Installation of TOPSET window sills

When installing TOPSET window sills, it is important to follow a few key steps that will ensure a long service life and trouble-free use. The following guide will help you correctly measure, prepare and install your window sill to perfectly match your interior.

1. Accurate measurement for installation

When measuring the length of the window sill, it is crucial to take into account the way it ends:

• Laminate edge → use the precisely measured length of the window sill according to the width of the recess.
• TOPSET plastic caps → subtract 3 mm on each side so that the caps fit in without any deformations.
• Embedding in the brickwork → add 10–15 mm on each side depending on the depth of the cut-out section.
• When measuring window sill width → add 30 mm to the dimension of the window sill base.

Attention: The widths of TOPSET window sills always include the nose.

2. Edge preparation before installation

Each window sill needs to be treated perfectly against moisture, so that it lasts for a long time without suffering damage:

• All cut surfaces must be protected against penetration of residual moisture from the brickwork.
• The back edge must always be sealed.
• We recommend the side edges be finished with a TOPSET plastic cap in the appropriate decor.
• • Shorten the cap if necessary, and apply silicone on the inside for a firm grip.
  
  
  • Press it evenly against the window sill.

Alternative solution:

• Laminate edge (glue and clean according to the profile shape).
• Iron-on tape in the same colour as the decor.

3. Installation of the window sill

Once you have the window sill properly adjusted in terms of length and the edges dealt with, the actual installation work starts:

1. Apply low expansion TOPSET PU750 installation foam to the bottom surface.
2. Slide the window sill under the window frame.
3. Make sure the window sill is inclined correctly - always away from the window (1-2%).
   The window sill must never be inclined back towards the window - there is arisk moisture will accumulate.
